Salman Rushdie

Born in British-ruled India, Salman Rushdie moved at a young age to Karachi, Pakistan, and later read history at Oxford. His novels Midnight’s Children, Shame, The Satanic Verses, and The Moor’s Last Sigh were shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize; Midnight’s Children won it in 1981 and was voted the Best of the Booker in 2008. Rushdie currently lives and works in New York City.
