Ammianus Marcellinus

(c. 330 - 395)

Born to a noble Greek family in Antioch, Ammianus Marcellinus fought the Persians with the emperors Julian and Jovian before settling in Rome and publishing his continuation of Tacitus’ histories, The Chronicles of Events, which covered the history of the Roman Empire from the accession of Nerva to the death of Valens.
