Declan Kiely and Isaac Gewirtz, curators of the new Morgan Library exhibit Edgar Allan Poe: Terror of the Soul, reveal a more complex, nuanced biography of the American author than the tortured-looking daguerreotypes and tales of horror might at first glance suggest. Terror of the Soul charts Poe’s life and influence on later authors through manuscripts, letters, original publications, and artwork.
