Hammurabi

(1810 BC - 1750 BC)

The sixth king of the Amorite Dynasty of Babylon, Hammurabi waged a series of successful wars against his neighbors in Mesopotamia. He declined the honor of deification during his lifetime, but a seven-foot tablet into which his codes were engraved is still on display at the Louvre Museum.
