Janet Malcolm

(1934 - 2021)

Born in 1934 in Prague, Janet Malcolm began contributing to The New Yorker in the mid-1970s. Her books include Psychoanalysis: The Impossible Profession and The Journalist and the Murderer, which opens with the sentence “Every journalist who is not too stupid or too full of himself to notice what is going on knows that what he does is morally indefensible.”
