Donald Barthelme

(1931 - 1989)

Donald Barthelme wrote for the Houston Post, served in the Korean War, and acted as the director of the Houston Contemporary Arts Museum before publishing his first book of self-described “collage” short stories in 1964 under the title Come Back, Dr. Caligari.
