Peter Sloterdijk

In 1983 Peter Sloterdijk published his thousand­-page Critique of Cynical Reason, which detailed how the idealism of the 1960s had collapsed—“a complex metamorphosis of hope into realism, of revolt into a clever melancholy”; it became a best seller. From 2002 to 2012 he cohosted a philosophical discussion program on German public television.
