Longus

(c. 180 - c. 230)

Longus wrote Daphnis and Chloe, the first pastoral prose romance. The book, one of the few surviving long prose narratives in ancient Greek, recounts the love story of two orphaned shepherds’ children and is considered a forerunner of the modern novel.
