Daniil Kharms looking serious with an intent stare

Daniil Kharms

(1905 - 1942)

In 1937, six years after being arrested for his so-called anti-Soviet children’s stories, Daniil Kharms wrote, “I am interested only in nonsense; only in that which has no practical meaning. Life interests me only in its most absurd manifestations.” He was arrested again in 1941, largely on account of his having been arrested the first time.
