Mineko Iwasaki

At the age of five, Mineko Iwasaki went to the okiya in Kyoto to study the arts of entertainment. She became one of Japan’s premier geishas by the age of twenty-one. Interviewed by novelist Arthur Golden for his 1997 bestselling book, Memoirs of a Geisha, Mineko published her autobiography in 2002.
