Jia Yi

(c. 200 BC - 169 BC)

Jia Yi was a poet, a scholar, and an official during the Han dynasty. After a quarrel with rivals of the emperor Wen of Han, Yi was exiled from the kingdom in 176 BC. His essay “Disquisition Finding Fault with Qin” is a meditation on the fall of the Qin dynasty, and his fu rhapsodies are considered standouts of the poetic form.
