Katharine Viner

Katharine Viner joined the Guardian as a lifestyle writer in 1997. She was promoted to features editor and deputy editor before being named the publication’s first female editor in chief in 2015. “The truth is a struggle,” she wrote in an award-winning piece on technology and media in 2016. “It takes hard graft. But the struggle is worth it: traditional news values are important and they matter and they are worth defending.”
