Viet Thanh Nguyen
Born in Buon Me Thuot, Vietnam, Viet Thanh Nguyen arrived in the United States in 1975, after his parents had fled the country following the fall of Saigon. He is the author of the novel The Sympathizer, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 2016, the short-story collection The Refugees, and Nothing Ever Dies: Vietnam and the Memory of War. He is also the Aerol Arnold Chair of English and Professor of English and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California.
