Henry Newbolt

(1862 - 1938)

While working as a lawyer and contributing to Law Digest, Henry Newbolt published a novel and a play before gaining recognition in 1896 for his patriotic poem “Drake’s Drum.” During the war he served as Controller of Wireless and Cables and was knighted in 1915.
