Michael Moritz

Born in Wales, Michael Moritz immigrated to the United States in 1976, becoming a reporter for Time. In the early 1980s, he took leave from his job to write The Little Kingdom, a history of the early days of Apple Computer. Before the book was completed, Time published a special issue critical of Steve Jobs, using research Moritz had compiled. Jobs banished him from Apple and forbade employees from speaking with him. The experience led Moritz to quit journalism and become a venture capitalist; among his early investments were Google, YouTube, and PayPal.
