Krishnadevaraya

An emperor of the wealthy Vijayanagar Empire, Krishnadevaraya was described in an inscription as “vanquisher of the sultans, the fever of the Gajapati elephants.” While on a military campaign around 1520, Krishnadevaraya had a dream ordering him to compose an epic poem about the god Vishnu. The work in question, Amuktamalyada, currently has four out of five stars on Goodreads.
