John Hersey
(1914 - 1993)
About the publication of John Hersey’s account of the atomic bomb explosion in Hiroshima in The New Yorker, the magazine’s editor Harold Ross told a friend, “I don’t think I’ve ever got as much satisfaction out of anything else in my life.” Both a journalist and a novelist, Hersey is best known for his several works of documentary fiction about the events of World War II.
