Daniel Genis

Born in New York City shortly after his parents left the Soviet Union, Daniel Genis was sentenced to twelve years in prison after committing a spate of robberies as a by-product of his heroin habit but was released after ten. Genis is working on a book about the 1,046 books (including all of Proust’s In Search of Lost Time, which took him a full year to complete) he read while incarcerated.
