L.J. Davis

(1940 - 2011)

L.J. Davis, a journalist and novelist, was born in Boise, Idaho, and moved to Brooklyn in the 1960s. “Creative young people were buying houses in the Brooklyn slums,” writes Davis in A Meaningful Life, a black comedy about New York City gentrification, first published in 1971. He lived in the borough until his death in 2011.
