Korean poet and playwright Kim Chi-ha.

Kim Chi-ha

The South Korean poet Kim Chi-ha was sentenced to death by the Park Chung-hee regime for helping to plot a rebellion in 1974. International outcry spared his life. Twenty-seven days after his release, he was locked up again. “They were going to crush me until I was flattened out like a piece of dried cuttlefish,” he wrote.
