Abd al-Latif al-Baghdadi
(1162 - 1231)
Born to a scholarly family in Baghdad, the physician and polymath Abd al-Latif al-Baghdadi began traveling in his twenties, eventually ending up in Cairo. There he met Moses Maimonides and lived through famine and plague, which he discussed in The Book of Edification and Admonition: Things Eyewitnessed and Events Personally Observed in the Land of Egypt.
