Ashraf Ghani

Before Ashraf Ghani became president of Afghanistan in 2014, he received a PhD in anthropology from Columbia University, worked at the World Bank, and served as Hamid Karzai’s finance minister. He was deposed and fled Kabul during the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, ending up in the United Arab Emirates.
