Barry Lopez

(1945 - 2020)

A writer known for his ruminations on the relationship between human culture and the environment, Barry Lopez, born in Port Chester, New York, is the author of Horizon, Desert Notes: Reflections in the Eye of a Raven, The Rediscovery of North America, and many other works of fiction and nonfiction. He has written for Harper’s Magazine, The Atlantic, Orion, and many other places. His book Arctic Dreams won the National Book Award.
