Ernst Jünger

(1895 - 1998)

Thomas Mann called the German novelist “an ice-cold playboy of barbarism.” Jünger published his first novel, Storm of Steel, in 1920, and his last, A Dangerous Encounter, in 1985. He also gained worldwide recognition as an entomologist, collecting beetles while in the trenches during World War I.
