American politician from New York George W. Plunkitt.

George W. Plunkitt

(1842 - 1924)

A longtime Democratic state senator, George W. Plunkitt was one cog in the Tammany Hall machine that helped run New York City off and on for nearly a century. His writings on how the organization worked shed light on Tammany corruption, with Plunkitt himself declaring, “I seen my opportunities and I took ’em.”
