Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

As a teenager, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar set a New York City high school basketball scoring record. He went on to play fourteen seasons for the Los Angeles Lakers, helping take the team to five championship titles. When he retired at the age of forty-two in 1989, he was the oldest player in the NBA, holding the records for career points (38,387), minutes played (57,446), field goals made (15,837), and shots blocked (3,189).
