John Mandeville

(c. 1300 - 1371)

Most of what is known about John Mandeville derives from his Travels of John Mandeville. The author claimed to be an English knight who had undertaken a journey to the East in 1322. Christopher Columbus’ son wrote that his father had studied the works of Marco Polo and Mandeville before his first voyage to the New World.
