Julia Child

(1912 - 2004)

After working for the OSS in Sri Lanka and China during World War II, Julia Child lived in Paris for six years, attending the Cordon Bleu for six months and studying privately with Max Bugnard. She returned to the U.S. in 1961, the same year that she published the first volume of her best-selling Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Her television show The French Chef premiered in 1963.
