Martin Bormann

(1900 - 1945)

One of Adolf Hitler’s closest lieutenants, Martin Bormann held posts in the high command of the Storm Troopers until 1933, when he became chief of staff to Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess, whom he eventually succeeded in 1941. He died in 1945, and was indicted later that year on charges of war crimes along with other Nazi leaders; he was found guilty and sentenced to death in absentia by the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg on October 1, 1946.
